WFMW – 5 Ingredients or Less July 2, 2008

My husband is not much on ‘one dish meals’. He generally avoids them. This makes cooking for 3 growing boys and a hubby interesting! Rocks in My Dryer is doing a themed Works for Me Wednesday this week. Create a dish with 5 ingredients or less! Oh my, this one was a challenge for me. Our simplest meal we eat here is Chicken Bowtie Pasta. It is super simple and super easy.

Chicken Bow Tie Past – This is kind of our own creation. Here is how we make it. Take desired about of chicken and cut into cubes. We generally use about 4 ounces per person. Toss the cubed chicken in Italian Bread Crumbs. Either fry or sautee in olive oil. Frying it will give it more of a diced chicken Parmesan taste. Once finished put all the chicken in a pasta sauce. We prefer to have a smooth sauce like Ragu Old World Style but a chunkier sauce will do. The smoother the sauce (i.e. no vegetables) the less you need. I use about 12 ounces for 4 people. Then pair it with your favorite pasta – ours is bowtie.

The best thing about this dish is you can always add a little more. Last time we made this we sauteed some broccoli in a little oil and added some garlic and wine seasoning. This was a great side and even tasted great mixed with the pasta.

Pair this with a salad and/or bread and it is a great meal! Enjoy!

What great yet simple recipe; these basic ingredients’ are found in most cupboards so this recipe could be one of those dinner-in-a-hurry meals.

  3. This is GREAT! I’m always looking for an easy meal. Especially pasta – our family favorite!! I look forward to more of your WFMW posts in the future!

I never thought about breading the individual pieces of chicken. I think my dh would LOVE this!
